Hey!
I was recently sent a sample of Seamore's I Sea Pasta from Media PR to try and then review and I've been so excited to post this as it was such an intriguing thing for me to try. I love food and getting to try something new to me was a change I needed in my eating habits.
The back of the packaging says:
"Seamore's founder mistook seaweed for pasta, loved the experience and decided to fool the rest of the world. I sea pasta looks like tagliatelle but is 100% wild, handpicked seaweed from Connemara, Ireland and Brittany, France. This pack holds the equivalent of 500 grams fresh sea vegetables ready to be used as pasta, veggies or anything in between. Great for your taste buds, health and the planet. Eat yourself happy."
It also says at the bottom that it is "non gmo, seastainable, vegan, gluten free, organic and low carb/cal" but above it it also states that it may contain crustaceans so that could contradict it being vegan...but obviously that is for you to decide for yourself.
So lets get into the cooking process! There were 3 different ways of cooking it printed on the back of the packaging...but being me I decided to just make it up like I always do. I was pairing the i sea pasta with one of my favourite dishes to make which is a chilli, garlic and sun-dried tomato pasta. I used about a quarter of the packet mixed in with my spaghetti (low key had trust issues...sorry sea more pasta!) and poured in boiling hot water then boiled them until both the i sea pasta and spaghetti were soft and ready to eat; I then emptied them out into a colander which I left to the side while cooking the rest.In the same pan I cooked the pasta, I added frozen garlic and chilli (I use frozen as it is easy to store and doesn't go off quickly as its really only me in my house that uses them) with some oil and cooked that for a minute or so before adding in the chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Once they were cooked, I quickly run my pasta under some water before adding it back into the pan and mixing everything together before serving. (There should also be rocket thrown in at the end, but that was no longer in my fridge when I went to cook this).
I found that there was a strong sea smell when I opened the packaging and when I was cooking it, which if I'm honest was putting me off a little bit but when eating it I really couldn't taste it. I was actually quite shocked when I started eating it as I just wasn't expecting seaweed to have a consistency so similar to pasta (yes, I'm aware that's the whole idea behind the i sea pasta...but I was sceptical.)
It was really nice and made my meal really enjoyable. It was such a change to try something so different and I definitely want to try it again in different recipes and to get people around me to try it! If you're intrigued then I definitely recommend you buying some!
I hope you enjoyed this post and have liked my review on Seamore's I Sea Pasta. I also hope you come back for my next post!
